I am troubled by the world today; ashamedly, I lack what is needed to bring about change. My ear is to the ground, hoping for the hoofbeats of those who will bring a
β
return of respect and dignity. Until then, I keep trying to improve myself and make a greater contribution to a better future.

Society has so venerated growth, that it is accepted as a necessity, whatever the costs. Perhaps the assumption is innovation, spurred on by βpositiveβ economic
β
activity, will cure the ills caused by ever increasing consumption. The modern lamentation over stable or shrinking populations appears driven by concerns over racist
π
β
fears of βreplacementβ - the same people reject migration as a way to fulfull local, economically driven needs for greater population. There appears to be a common
π
β
belief in a moral imperative for more living souls - attempts to limit or reduce population are demonized, those who choose not to have children are degraded and
πͺ
β
dehumanized. This growth mindset, one especially aligned with political conservativism, rejects the worth of both individuals and the natural world. It is more suited
β
to bacteria than human beings.

Pronatalism to ensure an economic future envisions humans as cattle. Children are trafficked into the world to quell adult anxieties and satiate adult desires. It is
β
in the same ethical bucket as forced prostitution, slavery or the making of snuff films. If our economic system demands exploiting human life in this way, we must
β°
burn it to the ground and start again.

The claim of political conservatives that conception is the moment of creation is falsified by the existence of identical siblings. At the time of the single
β
conception event the number of siblings is undetermined - typically a single child, but sometimes more. Alternately, chimerism due to fraternal twins merging into a
β
single individual, while rare, appears to be more than just a plot device in police procedurals and multiple acts of conception result in one individual. The moral
β°
implications of tying personhood to the moment of conception are unresolvable. Enshrining this belief in law would erode the soundness of the American lagal system.
